I recently enjoyed speaking with the great kids and budding non-fiction writers of my friend Alexis' class at P.S. 63 in Manhattan's East Village. The class prepared engaging questions for me, with some I really had to think about: How many drafts did my book go through? Who's my favorite writer?
I hope I imparted at least one bit of wisdom: a book can start with something you really love or a question about how something came to be. Or both, as in my case!
